Dikling Sr. Sec. School provides an enriched learning environment that has helped countless students learn, develop and grow. Our unparalleled curriculum and teaching methods help students take the next step in their education and approach the future with confidence.

 The school has travelled a long journey of about 72 years of its existence, from primary school to Sr. Secondary School. Over this period of 72 years, thousands of our students have passed out to subsequently lead successful lives as teachers, doctors, engineers, businessman, sports person, and above all, as good citizens. I do hope that new website will be found useful by all and helps in greater heights. We are at the initial stage and assure you all that there will be lots of additions in the future and the portal shall be regularly updated to share the latest information to the users.

The history of Government Sr. Sec. School, Dikling, East Sikkim dates back to 1946 with its establishment at present Dikling School Ground, popularly known as School Dara, whose work was initiated by Mandal Shri Tika Ram Bhandari, Shri Thendup Bhutia and Shri Gyammtsho of Dikling Busty. During this time Shri Joshep Lepcha was the only teacher from kalimpong to handle its academic work. Unfortunately,this school ran in the financial deficit and was in a verge of closing down. During that time a football tournament was won by the players of Dikling who took the winning trophy around the village to collect the funds for the expenses of the school and for the further establishment of the committee school at Manay Dara in 1952. The founder members of the committee were Mr. Gyatsho Kazi, Mr. Tikaram Bhandari (Mandal , East Pandam), and Mr. Thendup Bhutia. At this time there was also a mission school at Mr. Luksom’s house near Bhanu Turing which was by some reasons shifted to Namcheypong area at Mr. Joshep Lepcha’s house. After the shifting two teachers of that school, Smt Ongmit Lepcha and Smt Passangkit Lepcha joint the New committee School as a teacher at Diking School. In 1959, Shri Gyatsho Kazi, one of the member of the founder committee donated a small piece of land of 0.3360 hectares for the School at the present Dikling School site.Each member of the village participated in the construction of the school building with the voluntary contribution of GCI sheets from the government, planks were carried as far form Kali Khola, Padamchey and stones were brought from Pachak. After it’s completion the school was shifted to the new campus in present site in 1959 as Govt. Primary School, Dikling, which was inaugurated by the councilor Lt. Mr. B.B. Gurung. In 1976 the school was upgraded to Junior High School and Mr. C.M. Alexander took over the charge as the Head Master of the School. During this period class VI,VII, and VIII were also started in Shri L.C. Lucksom’s house near Tiger Turning due to shortage of classroom at Dikling school. In 1977, a Six room R.D.D. building was constructed at the campus whose inauguration was done by the Governor of that time Mr. B.B. Gurung on 04.08. 1977. In this building classes like VI, VII, and VII were brought back to Dikling School from Mr. LucksomLepcha’s house. In 1978 it was upgraded to HighSchool with six room in two floors under the S.P.W. Department which is now it is being used as the main school building. Whose inauguration was done by the then Hon’ble Minister of Education Mr. B.P. Dahal. During this year a class IV quarter was also constructed for the residence of the headmaster for Mr. C.M. Alexander. In 1979, the school ground of nine side was constructed above bhanjang, Dikling with a total cost of rupees seventy two thousand only ( Rs. 72,000/- ). In 1980 it was further upgraded to Secondary level/class Ten (x) A.I.S.SC.E. ( C.B.S.E.) for the first time and Mr. C.M. Alexander continued to be as the head Master of the school. A class III quarter was also constructed in the campus during this year. In this year Mr. C.M. Alexander was replaced by Mr. R.K. Sharma as the new headmaster of this school. In 1982, the then headmaster Mr. R.K. Sharma was transferred to another school and Mr.C.M. Alexander was took over the charge of the Headmaster of Dikling School once again. It was on 1985 this school was further upgraded to Senior Secondary level with Mr. C.M. Alexander as the Principal. A six room low cost building was added to the existing accommodation of the classes by R.D.D. Department. In 1986 the main school building school was electrified. In 1987 the first batch of class XII student appeared for the A.I.S.S.C.E. (CBSE).Duiringthis year the school acquired its land legally with a total area of 0.3360 hectares in the papers. After 1987, Mr. Gyatsho Kazi S/o Babu Kazi and his son’s donated the total land of 1.7460 hectares to the school, giving it an ample space for further development. With the pace of time this school has witnessed dramatic progress in the field modern education system and bagging number of prestigious awards in the school.
